I am curious what immediately comes to mind when you hear the term "Crazy Cat Lady?
Do you consider yourself one?
Do you know anyone that this label (stereotype fits?)
Does it offend you in any way to be called a "crazy cat lady?" Or do you wear that label with pride?
Your thoughts would be appreciated for an article I am developing~
Thanks!

This probably won't help you, but this was announced this morning and fits my definition of a crazy cat lady.

Crazy cat lady to me means a hundred cats not taken care of in a mess of a house that you can smell from a mile away. But I do believe people in town think my sister and I are crazy cat ladies. We love are babies, we take proper care of them, we build and buy things to make their lives better, we worry about them and talk about them like other people do their children. They are our kids. If this makes me a crazy cat lady, then I am proud to be one.

Until recently, the term meant a "pet hoarder" who had a psychotic problem - a form of mental illness. It is too bad, and makes me really angry, that so many people these days use the term "crazy cat lady" loosely to mean anyone (especially a single woman and even more especially an older woman) who has a pet cat. Let's all we pet lovers vow to be careful about the semantics in this not-so-brave new world with so much ignorance and misinformation floating around, OK?
