..."thief of hearts" ? My hubby gave Mr. Blue this name, shortly after we brought him home with us. Today, he's illustrated it several times over! It started this morning with the man who lives across the street from us. They have 2 great dogs, a giant Schnauzer and a mix from the humane society. This man loves Mr. Blue; he always carries dog treats, and Mr. Blue now expects one when we walk by. In our before-work walk, the man said he had a present for Mr. Blue, and came out with a giant dog biscuit - this thing is about 6 inches long and 1/2 inch thick! I put it in my pocket for later, since he hadn't had his breakfast yet, and I'd rather give him something new over the weekend when I'm there to make sure he reacts OK. The man was petting Mr. Blue, and telling him what a great dog he is. This is the same man who, when there are friends visiting and he sees us walking by, will call his friends to meet "this great dog with great eyes." On our after-work walk, we were going through the little park by our house, and some people sitting there said hello. I said "I'm sorry, but since you said Hi to me, he assumes you met him." We went up and said hello, and they loved Mr. Blue. I think one of the women was normally a bit nervous around dogs, but she ended up cuddling with him more than anyone else! Her husband asked her, as we were walking away, if they'd ever met a dog like Mr. Blue, could they have adopted him, and she said definitely!
I get so proud when he is praised like he was today I have to tell myself that I didn't have a thing to do with creating Mr. Blue. The only credit I can take is recognizing a wonderful dog when I saw him.

He really does! I was asking my hubby earlier...
...how did we get so lucky to end up with Mr. Blue? It's amazing how the first dog we found really did turn out to be our "heart dog."

You didn't create him, but I think your love and kindness brought out his fun personality and makes him feel secure enough to be friendly to all. I think you are all lucky and it was meant to be! Mary- i looked for that magazine so I could have the article and could not find it..darn.
