Space Heaters
Space Heaters
Greetings, i have need of a space heater and i also have two kittens both about 5 months old. I wanted to ask for any reccomendations or advice, since i am concerned what kind of heater would be safest with these young and energetic kittens around, if any.
Re: Space Heaters
My husband and I saw one at Menard's the other day...I cannot remember the brand, I will see if I can find it...but it is electric, with safety shut off features...but you can put it on a stand on the floor or hang it on the wall...
it cost about $78

Re: Space Heaters
Please, use caution with any space heater. NEVER use any kerosene/gas/oil-burning space heaters in a home. These type of space heaters are deadly....they require very specific ventillation, they emit horrible fumes, and if they tip or spill, they will leak and can cause fires. Each year, homes and lives are damaged due to these things.
Be careful with any electric space heaters as well. Despite safety gaurantees, if not properly ventillated, kept away from flammable material, checked on, used properly, they can be dangerous. They can also add to your electric bill considerably. Keep away from drapes, cords, etc!!
Why do you need one?

Quartz heaters are supposed to be safe for kids, pets, etc. I have to research them for a better solution to the igloo I currently reside in.
Re: Space Heaters
I would like to know if they help or hurt your utility bill. I have a gas furnace and if I use my little space heater it is electric. I just use it sometimes in the dining room where the computer is as it is drafty in there.
In this area electricity costs have gone up quite a bit...soooo- do I just turn up the thermostat??? Wish I knew.

Re: Space Heaters
we use LP and to fill our tank to just half full is $250 or more a month, and that BARELY lasts us a month....there have been times we spent $500 in a month on LP in winter!!
Electricity here is not thta cheap either, but I figure that a space heater in rooms might be less expensive than the LP
I figure even if these things ran 24/7 it would cost me about $25 or so a month to run one....but in bedrooms and bathroom, they would not need to be on all the time...
