Tears...

You have my deepest condolences. He was a beautiful boy.

There Will Come A Time

By Gerard E. Trigo

That puppy is such a mess
She pees on the carpet and eats the grass.
Hold your anger and remember this for a future time.
For there will come a time when you will wish for them again.

At times her chewing and digging drive you wild
The only thing that saves her are those twinkling eyes and cute smile.
The surprise kisses and the way she learns to obey are saving graces.
I say not only be patient and kind, but remember those puppy times.
For there will come a time when you will wish for them again.

Watch her sleep in seeming innocence, then bound up and run.
Watch her dash around with puppy exuberance and remember those times.
She will out grow those problems and become a faithful friend.
A day will come when you will watch her slowly and painfully rise from her rest
Then you will wish for a return of puppy zest.

You will look into aged eyes filled with pain and wish to see them twinkle in youth once again.
A day will come when it must end and you will miss a faithful friend.
There will come a time when cleaning some forgotten spot
you will find some favored toy or tennis ball.
Tears will come to your eyes and you will see
That puppy that used to be. A faithful friend who is no more.

So when that puppy destroys something, hold your anger and store the memory.
For there will come a time, when you would pay ten times the cost of that thing
if only she could be by your side, young and healthy once again.
There will come a time when all that’s left is a grave, a memorial or an urn.
Hallowed remains that do not fill the hole in your heart.
