Maybe Skeptic or someone near could help...

Post by E's »

Sorry I can't come to the board more often. Hope everyone is well. E's in Austin TX

So much loss and sadness in my New Orleans neighborhood... but perhaps someone could help in this particular case... The following email came to Rebuild Lakeview this morning:

To: rebuild_lakeview@yahoogroups.com

Subject: [rebuild_lakeview] Fwd: Lakeview cat owner needs foster help

If there any cat lovers out there who can foster 2 cats for up to 2
weeks, please contact Celeste Autin at CAutin@jpclerkofcourt.us or call
(504) 348-4317. The cats' owner is named Trish and her # is (504)
427-2011. Please do not contact me as I have no further info. Thanks,
Julia Lane, 5625 Vicksburg St

Subject: HELP FOR DISPLACED LAKEVIEW CAT OWNER

My friend Angie is a staff member at WJ Hospital, and she works with
this lady Trish.  Trish is a displaced homeowner from Lakeview.  She has
been living with relatives that informed her last night that they were
selling the house she is staying with them in and that she has to move,
more importantly to them is that she get her two cats a place to stay as
soon as possible, as they would rather show the house for sale without
animals in it.  She is desperately looking for a place for herself and
her two babies, is there anyway we can help Trish find a foster mom for
about  1 or 2 weeks, or until she can find and apartment?

Let me know if you can be of any help, I am sure it would be deeply
appreciated; Angie describes Trish as like me about her cats, they are
her babies.

Trish's phone number is 427-2011 or you can contact me here at
CAutin@jpclerkofcourt.us

THANKS AND GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR HOLIDAY SEASON!

Celeste

If it's only two weeks, why doesn't she consider boarding them with her vet, as long as it's a 24/7 care facility?

My guess she doesn't board due to a lack of money.

I am sending this to various cat rescuers in my area.

Skeptic, my guess is the same as yours, plus the fact that almost all the veterinary clinics in that area were devastated... see my longtime vet hospital above... they are in temporary quarters and can offer no boarding facilities. People outside the GNO area just don't seem to realize what the situation is still like along the Gulf Coast... Mississippi as well as Louisiana.

Thanks to you and friends in the NOLA suburb River Ridge, my son found one of the few places to board a cat - Hickory Knolls way out in Harrihan - back in October, but he had resources... transportation and a place to stay... which this poor woman probably does not have.

Thank you again, so much... this is what I hoped could happen, that you would be able to contact people in your area... Please PM me if there is anything I can do from here in Austin.
