2 new cats won't bond with me

Post by foxnote »

I recently (1 month ago) purchased 2 kittens, one 4 months and the other 10 months. They are half-brothers and came from the same cattery. They were very outgoing when I selected these two and their breed is known for human friendliness. The problem:they won't bond with me because they are too busy with each other. I get about 15 seconds at a shot and then they are off to better things. Is this a young cat issue, a new cat issue , a cat issue in general, or does having two cats mean it will be harder for them to bond with me 'cause they have each other? Any help out there??

They are kittens and at the age where they are finding their independance, expending their energy. Give it time, since you've only had them for a month, and as they mature, they should soon start the bonding process with you.

I'm assuming you've had them checked by your vet and discussed getting them neutered?

Sometimes it takes some cats more time to gain trust and settle down. I took on two litterbrats...shared all the same kitten experiences....the calico picked me and bonded with me instantly. Her brother took his time in bonding, but eventually after several months started to be more and more trustful and affectionate. 9 years later, I sometimes can't peel him off, LOL!
Good luck with your new kitties!
Kitty kisses,
Debbie
