Getting a new cat

Hi, I'm new here. I've never owned a cat before (I'm allergic), and I'm just researching what I need to have, things like that. I know about the basics (litter box, litter, food, etc.), but I need any help I can get. This cat is currently an outdoor cat that has been in my mom's backyard for about 4 years. Mom says she's a really sweet cat, not at all feral. I'm a little worried moving her indoors.

Any suggestions, comments?

If you've never had a cat before, I would suggest getting a cat-care book to familiarize yourself with their needs. You can also see New cat owner for an introduction into new cat ownership.

Lastly, please read Indoors Only, it is easy to acclimate an outdoor cat to the indoors, and she will be healthier and happier being indoors.
