My cat, Callie, who is kind of a loner has found a new place to hide away...
A couple of weeks ago, I kept hearing a cat growling, but could not find where...it sounded like it was behind the fridge, and I thought someone had fallen back there!! I kep looking and checking and when hubby got home, I asked him to come help me move the fridge out...
But then, when we started to remove things so we could move it out (we have an OLD house and VERY unorganized or strategically placed kitchen) we saw a calixo head peek out from between the cookbooks on the second shelf above the fridge (we have 12 foot ceilings in the kitchen also) so, hubby removed some cookbooks and got Callie out of there...but when he went to put the books back, Skittles was also in there...so Callie had been growling at Skittles for invading her new space...
However, they BOTH tend to disappear into the empty space behind the cookbooks on that shelf WAY up above the fridge!! I had to rearrange some books and put a couple of boxes of recipes there so they can safely get in behind the books without knocking them all down every time!!
Strange Places to "Hide"
Re: Strange Places to "Hide"
Tambrey, if Callie hides excessively and seeks harder to access areas, this is not good...when was her last vet checkup?

Re: Strange Places to "Hide"
Her last visit has been within the last year, vor her checkup...but maybe with this bit of info, it would not hurt to get her checked again, just to be sure...She will use the box if she is the first one in after I change litter, but once someone else uses it, she is done for the time until litter is changed again...and I cannot afford to completely change the litter every day in all the boxes!!
She does not, and never has liked, most of the other cats...she likes Skittles, maybe because she is also a tortuiseshell calico, I do not know...
Callie was not the first cat into our home, nor the latest, I guess you could call her the middle cat...maybe she would be like humans relate to the middle child? We try to give her plenty of attention, when she will let us, on her terms...
It is almost like she needs a higher perch than the rest so she can lay there and watch down over her subjects or something...this is just the queenly, I am better than you attitude that she has always had...and when one begins to figure out how she got up to wherever it is she got, then she will find one higher or more secretive...
At first I tried to chase her down from the cabinet tops or wherever, but I decided she really is not hurting anything, she is careful and does not break things (for the most part!), she knows how to get up and down safely, so I just let her be and when she wants to come down for attention, she will...
But I will keep an eye on her overall health and well being and attitude and maybe make an appointment to get her checked...our vet has bartered some time and expenses for us anyways for fixing his computer I was going to use it to get two more females spayed, but if Callie needs medical attention, then I guess a spay can wait...I have dealt with Skittles and Tiglet yowling for a while now, I can put up with it a bit longer!
