Cat Food/Kitty Litter

Post by littlefriend »

I was just curious as to which brands people prefer.

On the food, I have stuck with Iams.

On the litter, I can't find anything I like and I have read some negative articles on some types.

I would be thankful for any opinions.

Food: Josie has "gas issues" so she has to eat Purina Pro Plan . . . very good stuff (and expensive).

Litter: Tidy Cats Crystal Blends . . . the "diamonds" work very well. It's been our favorite so far.

probably said this a few times in different places before...

food : science diet adult and cd
litter : fresh step (adheres the wetness the best imho)

once upon a time i used eukanuba (various flavors/mixtures) but once one of mine had a massive amount of crystals i moved to a brand/blend that my vet recommended.

Are those litters the clay type, scoopable or the silica (sp?) type?

Thanks!

All posted so far are scoopable.

Personally, I prefer clay (like regular Tidy Cats)...but have been using clumping as a "test".

I bought some scoopable at Fred's yesterday, just because I was in need and that was the only place I could go.

It is Fred's brand scoopable and it was only $3. I also says it is flushable.

So far I have liked it. I will give you a report after about a week.

It has been very hard to find one that would even be satisfactory with 2 cats.

Thanks everyone. I am glad to have some place to come and ask these questions. Not everyone loves there animals as much as I do, but people on this board seem to.

For kibble, mine eat Wellness Super5Mix and Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul (I mix them together). For wet, they get a rotation of Wellness, Chicken Soup, and Nutro, with the occasional can of Solid Gold as a treat. I would feed Innova if I could, but it contains herring, which gives Max gas.

We use Swheat Scoop litter. We did use Fresh Step until I read up on the harmful effects that clay litter can cause, both to humans and cats, especially if ingested. The Swheat Scoop is wonderful - no complaints.
