I'm getting a fence!!
WOOHOO!! Finally!! I bought this house almost a year ago. Pepperanne has been really suffering for lack of a fenced in yard. She's a very energetic cocker and NEEDS to be able to run freely and play and have a good game of outdoor fetch DAILY. Well, my MIL decided to gift us the fence!!! It'll probably be in by the end of October!! WAHOO!!! Pepperanne will be so excited to run and play unteather for the first time in almost a year! I can't wait to see it!!

Fences are great. If you can spare the money, get some gravel and cinder blocks. Dig a trench between the poles. Place the cinder blocks so the openings face to each side of the fence and then fill in the trench with the gravel.
This has several benefits.
A: Keeps dogs from digging out while allowing water drainage.
B: Reduces the amount and height of weeds growing next to the fence making mowing easier and reducing the amount of moisture and therefore rot at the bottom of the fence boards.
(Believe me it is almost impossible to do this after the fence is UP.) ....

Re: I'm getting a fence!!
Oooh, that IS a good idea. However, I'm not paying for the fence, my MIL is because I don't have the money. I got laid off and we are one income until somebody hires me. I just don't have the money for that. But, we plan on replacing the fence with a plastic one once we get actual home owners on the trustees board and change the rules to allow 6 foot fences. Hopefully by then, somebody will have hired me!!!

Pepperanne will be dancing for joy when she gets her fenced-in yard. One of our neighbors has a cocker spaniel who runs around the house so fast that he goes from one side of the house to the other in the blink of an eye.
What a nice gift from your MIL. A gift the whole family can enjoy.

Re: I'm getting a fence!!
I put up a partial fence to keep the dogs from running into the driveway and out in the street. Currently they don't realize that they can get to the street from the other side of the yard. I'm not telling them. Anyway it was such a relief. I love my new fence. When the UPS man comes, I don't have to worry. Congrats on the fence, it's so nice to be able to let them run.

You and Pepperanne will LOVE it. I put up a fence for Honey last year and best thing I've done...so much easier for both of us and she loves to run free- it was worth every penny...ENJOY!!
