The dogs began to suspect sometheing was up and began to gather around.

I only got a picture of one doggy enjoying her cake! It disappeared with frightening rapidity.
Sigh my pups are no longer pups, but adult doggies!
You may remember Ginger had a hot spot and had to wear an e-collar. She is fully recovered. The suggestions I received were for the most part helpful. The one about padding the edge of the e-collar sounded exceptionally good, until the other dogs decided that it made an excellent chew toy! The edge of that e-collar is now all chewed up. Fortunately it was not the only one we had. Now that Ginger is recovered, Prince has a hot spot and is sporting an e-Collar.
Now for another happy rescue story. We got in a little sheltie mix, we named Cinnamon. He was so scared that no one could get close to him for the first week. He was in bad shape. Nasty diarhea, but not bloody and extremely underweight. A sheltie rescue lady said she would see if she could do something for him, but had to see him first. Arrangements were made for me to meet her just outside of Baton Rouge. Cheryl and Mona got him into a kennel cab and I drove up there to meet the lady. I got there and took him out of the crate to walk him on the leash around while waiting for her arrive. After a short walk I sat down with him and he curled up by my side. It turned out that the lady did not think she could do anything for him. On the way back to the shelter, I left him out of the crate and he curled up on the floor of the Jeep on the passenger side.
Arriving back at the shelter I picked him up and carried him in. Everyone was shocked, because he had been snapping at anyone who approached him. So for the next few days I went each day to take him out of his kennel and walked him and got him to let Cheryl dose him with worm medicine. He began to gain weight back and his poop started clearing up. We managed to talk Southern Animal Foundation into having their vet look at him very cheaply.
The morning of his exam he let us bath him, even though he is another one who likes to bite the "water Snake." Here is his picture as we were getting into the Jeep to go to the vet.

The people at SAF found a foster for him and he was diagnosed with a minor treatable allergy. Cheryl had cleared him of worms already. The results of his heartworm test were not in yet, when I had to leave. It was with mixed happyness and saddness that I watched as they led him to the kennel to wait for the foster to pick him up. He and I had become close the last few days. If only I had the room and money. ........
Sorry to hear that Prince now has a hot spot; they are nasty sores! Mr. Blue's have all happened on his paws from his allergies. Fortunately, we haven't had one in a long time.
