White doggie poop

Post by frawri »

HI Group, my poor chi just had a poop that had part of it white. I read up on it, and it said she can't go poop. But she goes at least 3 to 4 times a day. So I don't think that is it. What else could it be? I picked it up and looked at it. Now don't gross out. I used a baggy to do so. LOL Any ways the poop crumbled apart like chunky chalk. The rest of her poop was brown and moist. So no problem there. What could it be?

I get that from my dogs occasionally, and never consider it a problem.

athe only thing the crumbly poop indicates is the intake of water is too low and the white is usually dietery, ie too much calcium or mineraintake...it is not a proble but it wouild be better to feed the food moist and maybe add a touch of salt to the water to make the dog drink more...but again is not a problem

I'm not sure if it is true in dogs, but in humans, white feces are an indication of a problem with fat digestion. The white is undigested fat, usually related to problems with the liver or pancreas. You might want to call your vet and just run it by him/her to see if it could be a problem.

With dogs, it could also just be something she is eating. Check the ingredients in her food and any treats you're giving her. One (or both) may be full of undigestable fillers, which are appearing white in your dog's feces.

K9..would the undigested fats form a "greasy stool" ?? sorry guys, but most of the white feces in dogs is dry and crumbly....don;t ask how i know, but when they get bones or excess calcium it often forms...???

Fat in table scraps or a dietary indescretion could probably cause a "greasy stool". But it would probably be mucous, which could be the result of stress, parasites, bacterial infection, dietary indescretion etc.
