Woohoo!!!
Mikey did physical therapy before his knee surgery. It definately helped and we continued with it for his recover. His surgeon was pleased we were so active in physical therapy. Mikey was walking normally probably within a week of surgery. The little dink even did the water treadmill they talked about.

I'm a big believer in hydrotherapy for disc problems/spinal injuries, and physical therapy for neurological problems (or post-traumatic injuries), but I would wonder about a clinic that provides these services far past the post-operative and recuperative period and for the fees charged. For debilitating or progressive conditions, sure, but for post-surgical therapies, this is usually done before the patient is released from the clinic anyway (i.e., the condition has improved so the owner can continue limited therapy at home, depending on the case)

I am totally unqualified to comment, but I wish hydrotherapy was available for humans in my area....I could use it...
Biscotti had disc surgery 6 years ago (her back legs were paralyzed) and she was sent home on crate rest. I did some research and came up with some simple exercises to help her regain strength (I know...it could be dangerous), and she is fine now.
thanks for the article....I found it interesting!

Traci, the clinic that has it around here also has ortho surgeons. For TPLOs and other injuries a couple of visits are included to help teach the owner how to do exercises at home. I like that idea.Traci wrote:I'm a big believer in hydrotherapy for disc problems/spinal injuries, and physical therapy for neurological problems (or post-traumatic injuries), but I would wonder about a clinic that provides these services far past the post-operative and recuperative period and for the fees charged.
