Housebreaking question

Post by diamondklp »

My 7 month old puppy, Ozzy, a basset is the love of my life. But, I have been struggling with housebreaking issues. He can sleep all night without waking me up to go out. Also when we are home he goes to the door to be let out. But, when he is home alone, even for an hour he pees on the floor. I think he understands the concept and I did crate train him, but gave up because he pees in the crate....I am at my wits end. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

i was more concerned that he was acting out because he was home alone. That he is angry or something....does that happen with dogs?

I agree with Me Again. My guess would be anxiety over being left alone that causes the problem. This may clear up with age, but it may need the services of an expert animal behaviorist/psychologist. ....
