10 yr Basset.....she had geriatric anasthia and blood panel done. All is within normal limits. I pulled out the doggy bed, which no one uses, and she is on it. Not on the couch! I am sure she will be fine by tomorrow
Hubby just helped her up on the couch I'm sure she just needs a day to recover.......???

Re: Winnie had a dental done today
Poor Winnie. I think they take longer to recover when they are older. My cat used to spend most of the night sleeping after getting her teeth done. She should be feeling better in the morning. Sending prayers and good wishes.

Good girl, Marty's Winnie!
Dotty's Winnie is set for exam and full blood panel in a week or so - at which time we may well be looking at a dental (E is 8-3/4 yrs, hasn't yet had one...)
One thing I know for sure, however: All Winnies agree, couch is best for a good recoup

It's probably just the effects of the anesthesia - possibly with dehydration. You may want to try to get her to drink something - I've found that canned chicken broth is good when they don't feel good, just like it is with people. Give only a small amount and make sure she doesn't throw it up. If she keep it down, then give a little more. I know Allie was very dehydrated after her spay surgery, and after I got some fluids into her, she felt much better.
I'm sure she'll be back to normal soon. Sending good wishes your way.

just kinda keep in mind that the anesthesia is safer than the couch...if your pup (big pup) is still slightly under the effect of the anesthesia she can very easily step out into space off the couche or dowwn steps with out realizing it and damage a leg or hit her jaw...i am sure you are watching her but be a little carefull ofheights, ie stairs, couches etc....
Re: Winnie had a dental done today
Tonight she is back to normal.....whew...trying to eat everyone else's food! She was pretty mopey all day. I won't be in a hurry to do that again!
Davet, your comments make me comment....When I picked her up, I could tell she was a wee bit under.....took her out to the truck....opened the door for her to hop in.....and I got this blank stare.....like "What do you want me to do?'" "umm....Winnie, put your front paws here, and I will lift your rear." Another blank stare.....So Mom lifts front paws....."oh, thanks Mom" Then the head turns around....."Now what?" So Mom lifts 60.lb of Basset into the truck, where she falls asleep for the 5 minute ride home. She did a little better on the exit, but 3 dogs were in the window encouraging her!

E's Winnie.....I know you will do fine....and it was a good feeling to know that my Winnie is healthy, for an older dog. And having clean, sound, healthy teeth will make it that much more comfortable in the coming years.
She did have one other dental....maybe 4or 5 years ago. But they were pretty dirty this time. Keep us posted!

Re: Winnie had a dental done today
your discription of getting her into the truck is so typical..i have had clients with 100 plus pound st. bernards trying to get them on the exam table ( i didn;t have tyhe hydrolic type)....one saint was so cooperative that she would get both feet on the table and then the owner and i lifeted each read end leg...some times we got laughing tso hard we would have to stop...also wathich them get into the car was them same....my old b ig fat lab , BJ, weighted over 100 pounds and sometimes it took corinne and i and anyone else to get her in my van to go anyplace...
