Bamm Bamm
Hi All....I got my new baby Bamm Bamm the other day. He is so healthy, doesn't shake or cough at all like our Nugget did. He is eating dry puppy food (Waltham) aprox 1/4 cup a day. My question is...should I be feeding him canned food as well? He weighed 2lbs when we went to the vets on Saturday. She says he looks very healthy.

Congratulations, and we want pictures! How old is Bamm...
...Bamm? I'm glad he got a good bill of health at the vet's office! Unfortunately, I don't know anything, really, about puppies; all the canines in my life appeared during their "teenage" times.

Hmmmmm
Good luck with the pup, but I wouldn't go back to that breeder....
Most studies show that it is better to wait at least 8 weeks before separating a puppy from its mother. Many studies now recommend 12 weeks as much better.
Is this the same breeder you got the sick pup from? If so I would be leery of any puppies from him/her/it. Ask for a list of defects going back the last five generations from them for the sires and dams of your puppie. Also ask about the results of the Dysplasia and CERF tests on the parents.
Hope this helps and I hope your puppy is truly healthy and happy and gives you many years of happiness and companionship. ...

Surprisingly, I got my other puppy "Nugget" from a reputable breeder. Nugget was registered with the CKA and I had five-generation pedigree on both sides. She had a guarantee of health. I did question her health when I brought her for her shots at 3/12 months and was told that her coughing and shaking were nothing to worry about. The shaking was because of hypoglycemia and I was to give her Nutrical whenever she shook. I am a concerned now that I have seen what a healthy Pomeranian is like. I have another pup coming from that breeder in September. I have since changed veterinary clinics and vets so I am hoping they will be able to give her a full examination as soon as I get her.Is this the same breeder you got the sick pup from? Sorry, forgot to login again
The above post is from me... Nugget was 12 weeks when we got her and she was one of the most well adjusted social puppies. She loved everyone...animal and people.
Please, please
please make sure he is eating 4-5 meals a day well spaced out so he eats late at night and early in the morning. Young toy breed pups taken away much to early are at high risk for hypoglycemia. Many toys are still nursing some until 8 weeks. If he is eating the dry alone fine, then you don't need to worry about adding wet. You may want to have some on hand in case you need to entice him. Make sure you have nutrical, too.
You have a very high risk little puppy on your hands. Good luck!

I don't have a digital camera yet so am waiting to get some pictures developed will post after I scan them.
I do realize that he is a high risk puppy. Thanks for the advise JMM. I am trying very hard to keep him healthy and safe. He is seeing the vet again on Saturday for a check-up just to be sure he is gaining...sure feels like he is to me! He loves his food. I let him self feed...always keep food and water accessible to him. He has a puppy playpen with his bed, toys, food, water, & of course the necessities....puppy training pad! He spends the nights in there. I normally kennel train my puppies but have decided against this for Bamm Bamm. He is too small to keep away from his food or water for any duration. He also goes in there in the day time if my husband or I aren't able to watch him. He does have a lot of spirit. He has taken to following us around the house or playing at our feet when we sit. We both have fallen under his spell. He absolutley loves our cat Susie. We do have to watch him because he can't resist the tempation of catching her tail.
