Davet, concerning Biscotti's pseudomona ear...
I got a message from another Basset owner dealing with the same problem. Her dog didn't like this fizzling 2 stage cleaner either. She tried a Betadine solution, and has had good luck with it. Her dog's ears are now cleared up. And her Vet wanted to take out the ear canal... Just wondering what your input might be. The cotton ball trick sounds good, but hard to do with this particular cleaner.
i can't tell you to use betadyne but i have Rxd it and
got pretty good results with it when every thing else failed...also removing the ear canal, i think it is called a Lacroix proceedure (reminds me of anothe story) where the ear canal is removed allmost down to the ear drum..it is a horrible operation but if needed it shoule be done, after the healing there is or are no more possibility of ear infection...it is a last resort but if needed get it done, or tell you friend to get it done..now the story...when i practiced in Miami we had a lot of hot shot people come in...hoagy charmichels dog,Al Capones daughter =s dog , couple movie stars etc and my Favorite was Dagmar, the volupuous souther comedian...really a great gal.anyway when i moved up north i got a call from her from new york...her vat had suggested the operation on Shakespears ear
so we discussed it and then i asked the name of the vfet...it turned out to be Dr., Lacroix , the very man who perfected the operation..and she wanted my opinion...what cou.d i say....anyway i this the procedure is now call external ear canal ablation or something like that...again it is a good but lots of sutures operation...if neede d get it done.---again not corrected for spelling

one other medication for ear infections::
i used to mix this up myself but i think it came commercially as Tannisol...may be off the market now..but it was real oldfashion and worked allmost 100% of the time...squirted in the ear once a day after the ears were cleaned..
Tannisol
5% tannic acid
5% salsylic acid
5% boric acid
qs alcohol
your vet will probably think iam nuts suggesting it but it was effective and also cheap--cheap is good sometimes.
