Promised pics of Mr. Dawg's Rhinoscopy...

Post by TheSkeptic »

the first report on the biopsied material.

"There is definite inflamation, but no sign of neoplasts. Further results in two weeks after the material is cultured."

Translation -- He has something wrong with his nose, but there is no sign of cancer. We have to wait two more weeks to find out what the it is!

Here are the phots first the right nose -- all normal.

Here is one of the left nose.

HEre are some shots from the very rainy day we had the other day, before the real rain hit. In these shots there had been a storm and it passed leaving only a light drizzle. Of course the older dogs have more sense than the younger ones. When it is nasty outside they go out, do their business and go right back inside. Here is Ivory displaying a lack of sense about getting out of the rain.

Image

Here are Prince, Bernie and Ginger on the patio, waiting to come in, but distracted by something in the next yard.

Image

What ever interested those three also interested these three, but it whatever it was was leaving as I took this picture. Ebony is heading in and the other two have clearly lost interest in whatever it was that caught it in the first place.

Image

The last to come in and the wettest dog of this outting was Pea Pod. She and Ivory are our two mud muffins who love to get wet and muddy.

Image

Druing the worst of the storm, water was two inches deep at the shallowest spots in the yard. The thunder and lightning were ferocious and we lost power for about two hours. Unfortunately I didn't think to take any pictures then. Dottie was terrified of the lightning and thunder. Poor Freckles used to be afraid too. Dottie spent most of the storm in either my lap or Cheryl's lap. Freckles would have been there with her. Kaiser loved the storms and would scare us because she would stay out in the ferocious rain, romping through the puddles. She would come inside with the biggest grin, looking like a drowned rat. She would put her paws on my chest and lick my face as I toweled her dry. Trying to towel Ivory dry is like trying to dry a slippery eel, while Pea Pod for some reason cowers in the corner betwen the wall and bookcase as you dry her. Prince is so poised. He sits as you towel his face and body and then lifts first one paw then the other, then he stands as you do the rear legs and feet. Of all the active dogs we now have, he is the easiest to care for and dry. Old Dottie has one interest and one interest only, getting back on her sofa.

Wow, those nose pics are really interesting. You can definitely see something going on in there. I wonder if it hurts at all, and no wonder there is bleeding. Have they given you any kind of medication yet to try out?

And as for that rain you have been having, quit sending it up our way!! LOL Actually, we have been lucky and it's slipped right by us and missed us but everthing North of Nashville go it good. You should invest in a weather alert radio if you don't have one. I just got one because of the severe storms we get here and it will let you know if something severe is coming in the night when you are sleeping that you should take cover for (you know head for the basement, or in our case, the bathroom).

When we get thunder storms my Papillion Tuffy is the poor scared pupper, she becomes "velco dog" at the first sign of a rumble. Now, if they have to be towelled off from being out in wet weather, well, my Chihuahua Chewie really hates it and I have to be careful he does not bite me when he's being dried. That stems from abuse he got in his previous life, but he's really getting much better about it all. Haley is my "slippery eel" when it come to being dried off, if I don't catch her as she comes in she will run away as fast as she can, but I usually catch her because my kitchen floor is slippery when they have wet feet and she usually slides on her bum so I get a second to catch her and get her dried off. LOL

We do have a weather alert radio, and it alerted us to the storms about 15 minutes before they hit. We have had weather alert radios since they first came out. In huriricane territory it is a necessity. ....

Skeptic, I'm so glad to hear it isn't cancer in the nose! How hard, though, having to wait even longer to find out what it is! How did Mr. Dawg do with the procedure? Hopefully his recovery from anesthesia was nice and uneventful! Our weather up here in Michigan has really been see-sawing lately, and my sinuses hate it! We had a gorgeous weekend, then some drizzle yesterday, and snow flurries today! It's supposed to get up into the upper 70's, with lots of rain, by Friday. Mr. Blue doesn't like the rain at all, but he's gotten so much better since the time we brought him home. He used to refuse to go out in it. He does now, on leash as long as I'm with him, but gives me reproachful stares the whole way. He takes drying off very well, and doesn't mind my cleaning muddy paws. I call him my "Wicked Witch of the West" dog; he's convinced he'll melt if he gets wet, and how can I be so mean as to, say, give him a bath?
