??? One dog cleaning another's ears?

Post by Marty »

Screwy Louie likes to lick and clean Winnie's ears...and I am confused. She likes him doing it, but not me. I can handle that, but normally Louie is not her favorite animal (person)? Just finding it odd....she just had a vet visit...no infections. Now, if he would clean Biscotti''s ears and teach them all to bite their own nails, he might just have a permanent home here!

I wonder about this, too! At our old apartment, when we first brought Mr. Blue home, he had a beagle buddy and the 2 of them loved to clean each other's ears. I started to trust this beagle's judgement, as it turned out Mr. Blue had an infection that I wasn't aware of until a couple of days after she'd cleaned them. I can't help but wonder if they're not aware somehow, before we are or the affected dog is, of an ear problem. Hey, they're hounds - maybe they smell them starting.

Colour me odd, but I'd love to see a picture of that! It actually sounds really cute!

onething about dogfs cleaning other dogs ears, it is a good thing cause the moisturequite often will cause a latent ear infection to flair up and then you get to visit your vet at which time you can restablish a repor,repoir,repoar--ah heck conversation...It is cute but really not a good idea unless you kinda swab the ear out after wth a little water vineger mixture ....

Ok davet. So how do you break the habit of 3 dogs licking each others ears out? This has been going on for years.

I have two beagle/shepherd mix doggies that I rescued out of the interstate median, rightfully named Raleigh and Denver the "Highway Puppies". Raleigh is the female and loves to clean Denver's ears... I thought it was just a nurturing thing since he doesn't return the favor. Denver has the cleanest ears in town.
