Amanda is home

Amanda is home and resting comfortable.

The boys are keeping her company while she sleeps.

Thanks everyone for being there when I needed you. It's great to know you can talk to people who share your same feelings about your pets.

What a beautiful pic! I'm so glad she's home and able to rest! Is she eating OK?

Aw, poor baby... Brings tears to my eyes.

But it's so good to know that she is home. :)

Love the pic with the boys - they look so caring. I just hope they won't try to get her to play too early.

Lots of healing thoughts will be coming from Australia over the next few weeks, or for how long it takes.

Right now we are locked in the bedroom with the boys sitting outside the door. Amanda is still pretty tired. I don't think she slept at all while at the vets. She did eat a little bit. I'm sure tomorrow will be better. We carried her outside but she was too tired to stand or do anything else. Hopefully she'll sleep through the night. Just wish it wasn't 2 degress outside.

My favorite Bernese (from Bern) vet always used to say something along the lines of

"Give them one night at home in their familiar surroundings with their caring people, so they can feel completely safe and loved again. The next day the healing process will speed up considerably."

Maybe it was just because the last effects of the anaesthetics or other drugs had worn off by then, but I always found this to be true.

Have a good night, you all. :)

(We are expecting 38 degrees Celsius today...)

PS
If there wasn't much input, there won't be much residue. ;)
I would offer her some broth or anything liquidy she likes, though, to make sure she remains nicely hydrated.

So glad she is home safe. It's nice to see the pics - very comforting. Having a dog incapacitated even briefly can make one feel helpless - especially a big dog... and hearing that Amanda is afraid of fish touched my heart - it's the kind of thing they do, isn't it? With my moose it's the tiny skreaking sound of the backyard hose faucet ... Anyhow, hang in there, the time will go by before you know it!

Don't rub it in, it was -7o F this morning or -21o celsius. I was outside in my pajamas waiting for Amanda to poop. It doesn't get any better then this.
