dogs sweat through the pads of their feet and the nape of their neck...they can have sebvaceous discharge any spot on their skin which may appear to be sweat but is not...re garlic...i think it is worthless but some people swear by it...i usedput a drop of fenthion on the back of clients dogs, ie those who used garlic, and invariably several fleas would drop off...but it does not harm and if owners are happy with it let them use it but frontline etc works much better...

I didn't know dogs sweat through the nape of the neck area! I'd heard about the foot pads, and thought that was it. Kelly, we use Frontline on our Mr. Blue, and never get fleas or ticks, so we've been really happy with it.

Kelly... I`m sure they meant the dogs PANT instead. They can cool somewhat by increased evapouration.

i used fronline as well and still do was just checking out the garlic theory!
and was wondering if it was harmful to dogs to feed the fresh garlic in their feed??
i have to keep my westie clipped short and left with just the westie head as he sweats alot!! he had really greasy spots round his ears and neck and that has cleared up not that he is clipped short

garlic doesn't hurt, whether it does anything is questionable,,they have done studies on children and mosquitoes and garlic and the kids got bit as much as the non garlic ones...but again, unless is sefver excess it does no harm
