I got my May issue of "Your Dog" today, and Mr. Blue's story is in it! I was thrilled to see it. A few months ago, the head editorial was about finding a dog, and it asked for reader responses about how they found their dogs. I emailed them Mr. Blue's story, about how he found us, rather than the other way around. They included it in this month's issue, saying they'll publish more stories in later issues (but they picked Mr. Blue's story first!) I've been telling Mr. Blue he's now a published pooch; he doesn't seem too impressed
As much as I would like to see it posted on the board, it will be copywritten and that would be illegal. Better just to give everyone the Magazine name and vol. number or month the story will be published in. We can than either buy the magazine or find it at our local library to read.
It's even nicer that he is unaffected by his new found fame. You wouldn't want him to be like some folks who develop a real " nose in the air attitude" after they become famous!
He is really supremely unimpressed by all of this, and he wants you to know it hasn't made me any nicer. I still didn't let him sample stuff on our nightly walk; he really did end up with the meanest "Mama" out there! Thanks, Skeptic, for pointing out that it would be illegal to scan in the letter and post it here; my hubby was all set to go to work on it. I'm just thrilled that it appeared - I might be biased a bit, but I do think Mr. Blue's story is pretty good! I called my parents, and they're insisting on a copy of their "grandpuppy's" story in print. I will take the liberty of quoting myself here...this is the last line of the letter I wrote, and they printed it: "When people hear his story, many say how lucky he was. My reaction is always, No, look how lucky we were."
Mary, that is great!! I'm going to look for that magazine at Petco when I go later in the week.
Mr. Blue...........his story is published. It doesn't get any better than that.
That's great news. I hope Mr. Blue doesn't let this go to his head!
As for the story, I guess it is copyrighted, but if you put in the original letter, as the author, don't you have the right to do that? I'm not a lawyer, but it seems that that would be OK. Does the magazine have an on-line issue - if so, you could link to that, and that, I think would be OK since everyone would be going to their site where it was published.
