Traci, here ya go

Read the timelines. The day NB fessed up should have been the day all five companies were disclosed as a precaution. Really, if this was baby food, I doubt it would be dragging on as it is.
Kitty kisses,
Debbie

Wal-Mart Pulls Two Kinds of Dog Treats From Its Shelves
LITTLE ROCK, AK (AP) -- It could be another blow to Chinese imports.

Wal-Mart quietly stopped selling two brands of dog treats after customers complained the treats sickened their dogs, but it hasn't announced a recall.

A company spokeswoman said the treats are being tested.

The world's largest retailer started pulling two types of chicken jerky from two different Chinese importers in late July. It also placed a computerized block on all cash registers to prevent workers from selling the products.

Wal-Mart's action follows a massive pet food recall in March, when retailers began pulling products made in China that included the chemical Melamine, a byproduct of several pesticides.

Philadelphia television station WPVI reports that a woman claims her 2-year-old Chihuahua died after eating the dog treats. An autopsy revealed that the dog died of an infection caused by toxic bacteria.

I could be mistaken, but I believe that recall was announced this spring or sometime about then. Also, many chinese-made toothpastes were recalled at that time, human toothpastes etc, those brands making up a large percentage of products found at discount stores, cheap brands, etc.

Recalls Revisited, for peanutbutter products:

As you have been aware, many peanutbutter products have been recalled, including one dog treat type, but now, there are 2 or 3 new additions of recalled dog treats, containing peanutbutter:
