As a rule, getting a dog spayed or neutered does not cause weight gain. Exercise is important for all dogs to maintain a proper weight. Without regular exercise, weight gain will occur.

For every heat cycle you allow Kiki to endure, she is at risk for numerous health problems. She could have, and should have been spayed between 3-6 months of age. Love Your Pets ~ Spay and Neuter!

You were right about new puppy cuz We do tend to play with kiki then maggie... I would say she is jealous and trying to be a boss. She even try to take all the bones even we gave her and kiki just one each. then if kiki drop or put it down maggie go after it... Then I had to get it back from her and give it to kiki and it sad because if kiki went to get a bone and maggie will growl and show her teeth so we know that kiki want a bone back. And we cant leave bone laying around if we were gone or going bed. We will give maggie a attention first then give kiki attention.... Why would the vet said that most small dogs will gain weight if she get fix? I take my cats to different vet since i didnt like my old vet and I told mom to take dogs to my vet since my vet is very good and give you alot of information and plus I can take her to emergency and my old vet was never there if i need emergency. I do take maggie out and play and run but not long run since she has arithince (I forgot how to spell it, sometime old dogs get it).

It is good you are going to make changes in how you interact with the two dogs...to give attention to Maggie first, then Kiki, will make a difference, even though it may take a while to see the difference...and do not feel sorry for Kiki...it is how things are in the animal world and I think they understand that there will be some sort of pecking order and they cannot all be number one...
remember, you as a human are ultimately the "top Dog" over Maggie and Kiki...but then Maggie comes after you...

Supervised play between them with attention to Maggie and then Kiki I think will help alot...

It's also interesting what you said about giving then a bone. There are some very wonderful and sweet dogs that can be very food agressive. If the fighting over a bone or similar food continues, you may have to keep them separated when they get them, or just stop giving them bones altogether.
