UTI question
Re: UTI question
Whew, no sign of stones. They changed her antibiotic to cephalexin and upped the acidifier, as her PH is still not right. Cephalexin is one I have never had prescribed before.... I'm just wondering why they don't offer an Rx food (sorry, DH took her in, and I didn't think to tell him to ask).
Re: UTI question
A prescription diet probably wouldn't be necessary unless there were a history of UTI's, or crystals. If this were a one-time incident, your vet probably wants to try treating conservatively first. Although, I would suggest a culture and sensitivity test if the cephalexin doesn't clear up the infection this time.
