I'm glad she did well. Is she home yet? How is she?

She came home this morning and is doing fine...had a late breakfast and went to catch up on some sleep. The Vet was able to pretty much stitch the tail back together, but there is a possibility it could grow back, as he left a bit of discolored skin. Guess it depends on what it ends up being, which we should find out in 10 days when the stitches come out. So now we are calling her "Miss Poodle Tail!" Her "ankle" wound looks good too. Thanks for asking!

Marty, just a tip, if an e-collar doesn't work or she seems to want to get to her tail...ask your vet for a large plastic syringe he can cut off at the end. This can be a protective 'sleeve' over the tail and secured with first-aid tape and vet-wrap. When there are wounds on the tail and an owner has a rambunctious dog with unrelenting tail-wagging, that little tip can be a life-saver (or tail-saver  )

Thanks for the tip, Traci! She's not rambunctious, but the tail does do a lot of wagging...into cabinets, walls... Being an almost 11 yr Basset, she does a lot of relaxing on the couch.... so I am hoping she will stay pretty quiet. I know she will chew if it gets itchy, so I got some children's Benedryl....and I got some stretchy wound tape that sticks to itself if we need it.....she'll probably take that right off....but it made me feel better to have it here.
