Thank you girls.
I thought of taking Sgt. to an ortho but I have seen enough xrays with cancer to know this was the truth and that there was nothing I could do. Hell I'd have given him my own legs if I knew a dr. who would think me sane enough to do it. There was not one mean bone in his body, well ok when it came the family there wasn't a mean bone. Sgt. was sneaky, he didn't bark like Max loves to do. Sgt. would sneak up on people and scare the crap out of them if there were in a place they shouldn't be. Both dogs are west german bred, so they are not the 150 pound sheperds most people see. These dogs are lean, on the thin side, can scale a fence and are light on their feet. Well Max can climb a fence, Sgt. couldn't do that if Max pushed him up due to Sgt.'s hips but he was still lean and pretty. I trained his sister as well when I was pregnant with #3 child. Oh Jessi was so cute, just like Sgt., as beautiful as her mother. Her owner asked us to socialize her and we did and just like the typical breed, Jessi well socialized was able to go with her owner without looking back. Funny how Jessi would only pee for me while she lives with us. Sgt. too in fact could not be "given a break" to unless I was giving it to him. Funny how dogs are.

I know I did the right thing, there is no doubt in my mind. I would consider myself cruel and selfish if I had let him go another day. I was hysterical at the vets office in the parking lot for a bit but I was just sad now. He is burried well and there are precautions set up so no wild animals come. We had that issue with our dalmations 11 years ago. That was not a sight I ever want to see again. I was lucky to have caught the animal (another dog in the neighborhood) and brought the dog to the neighbors house and yelled at them. Years have passed and we have coyote and fox so we must be careful.
Oh I keep rambling on... I must go, thank you or letting me vent this is theraputic.
