Dog racing..
When I was a freshman in vet school one of my summer jobs was with a vet in Ft. Lauderdale..we discussed the dog racing track down in hollywood (fla. that is) when tjhe dogs were injured or lost too many races they were taken out to the glades and euthanized,,,,ie shot..Later on the loosers became pets ( in recent years) but folr a long time they were just killed.. here is an article on injuries.. i havn;t read it all but I do hope the injured dogs were retired and sent off as pets... I did have quite a few as patients and they were the greatest dogs..acted like their entire job in the world was to show off for their vet..great pets.

Nope no emoticon.......And I'd be banned for expressing in my FULLNESS.

I believe sportsmanship is one thing, let some dogs hang out and have trials like they do with Newfoundlands BUT racing a dog, that is just not right and never has been right....Maybe they need to have a muzzle put on them and have them get on that turf for a round or too. The dogs should pee on them!!! lol

in a way this was funny but I never knew outcome, I suspect the dog was euthanized..during a race they are supposed to chase a mechanical rabbit around the track..One night one of the dogs, a more intelligane one figured why chase, I got a better method...He took off and jumped the fence and intercepted the ra bbit as it passed on the other side of the track..he got his nose clobbered and I am sure that was then end of his career..It showed that these dogs had other thing in mind than winnig...they wanted that rabbit
