Canine Cushing's Disease
I have a 13 year old fem. Corgi -mix named Teddie. Over the past few years she has had elevated enzyme levels. They did a liver biopsy on her and it was inconclusive. My vet has mentioned the possibility of Canine's Cushing Disease. She has been been having accidents in the house. A few weeks ago, she developed an ulcerated cornea. I was referred to a vet opthamologist. The vet opthamologist also mentioned the possibility of CCD. She spoke with my regular vet and they want to run the AZTH Stem Blood test on her. I don't like what I have read about CCD. I know there are some possible treatments that help prolong their life. I just want her to be comfortable. We love her like a child and I am so upset and scared. I was wondering if anyone here had any experience with CCD and what can I expect. My e-mail is hawk95@bellsouth.net. Please keep Teddie in your prayers. I am so nervous.

I do not have an answer for you but I will pray. I do hope that davet(our retired vet) sees this and can help with understanding it a little better. I think right now you should get the testing done and then go from there. There are many symptoms that go with this disease and I think when you see the specialist that you ask him for a list of them all so you know and can be prepared for them if they do happen. I do know that there are treatments out there but it all depends on where this came from and the health of your doggie. You need to let them find out what caused it then work from there. From what I remember and it is from a tumor (could be two different types of tumors) but honestly I am not to speed on the latest stuff.
I do hope that the vet is sharp and willing to speak with you about this to lessen your fears. Hugs to Teddie.
P.S. I have two big dogs but LOOOOOOVE corgies.

I'll pull out some info I have from when my dog had Cushings. She was also a diabetic. Like davet said, thouogh, I'm sure my info will be outdated too.
I did rescue out a Pom from the pound who had Cushings. I know he was on a liquid medication (I forget what it was) and he also was on a special diet - and he took the SynoG3 suppliments.
I'll try to get ahold of the rescue lady who took him so I can get more info. He came through the pound just last summer.
