Interesting that the chocolate frosting wasn't mentioned as being harmful in the article on the other hand, a quarter of pound of xylitol in a single muffin sounds like it wouldn't be good even for humans.

That was my thought too, Jim, four large muffins, and chocolate frosting, chocolate being toxic to pets. Wonder if the actual muffins were chocolate as well. The news story makes it sound like the 4 muffins consumed contained a pound of xylitol, that's an enormous amount for any confection. Maybe the bakery (or wherever purchased) should be investigated.

No kidding... I think whoever made the muffins is cruisin' for a bruisin' in court....

China is a different story. There, only 3 percent of dogs are vaccinated against rabies, perhaps because the shot costs $25, far more than the price of a pet. The country has the world's second-highest rabies infection rate in humans, and last year 2,375 Chinese people died of the disease.

The official response to that situation was not to vaccinate the dogs. China slaughtered them instead.
This was horrifying to read, too! I can't believe the numbers of people, and the poor dogs too, who die with this. What a horrid way too go! Thanks both lmd and momPaws for sharing these.
