Needing suggestions with dog food

I have made (special recipe) my dog's food for quite awhile and want to put him on a good quality already-made dog food. The reason I have made it mainly was because another dog that I had ( now gone) had to be on it. It was mainly oats and chicken (& eggs) and vitamins/minerals and supplements. I added in various veg and fruits.

He has tested high-positive to wheat, yeast and carrots and low-positive to beef, rice, and venison.

I had him on Wellness's Fish and sweet potato (hard food) and canned Natural Balance Duck and potato at one time, so plan to try that again.

Does anyone know of any other foods that I might use? I want to stay mainly with human-grade quality foods. Wellness is human-grade, but I don't believe Natural Balance is. I have found some others, but they have carrots in it.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You shouldn't be radically changing the diet or it's ingredients without your vet's help and direction. You should be asking him what is most appropriate for your dog as per his age, health status, individual needs and requirements.

What allergy testing was done, and did your vet validate the testing? Some allergy tests are questionable (and some are downright dubious).

The allergy testing was done by a blood draw and sent off by the vet's office....I believe it was Nelco Labs.

I know not to change a diet radically, but to change it gradually over a period of weeks....Donetta

I have always been in the minority on dog food but I always told new clients with pups to start the pup on a good grade commercial diet, ie grocery store diet. then stick with uit untill the pup tires of it and the make a gradual switch to another brand...These diets are as good if not better than all the exotice diets that owners feed their dogs...My dogs have alway eaten commerecials and with 7 kids we had lots of stuff left over from the table...if there was any diarrhea , then we would know from ntes..what cause it...but I suspect follow Traci's advice and also I have very little faith in the blood allergy testing, but that is just from what I have read...never did it

My first question is why did you test the dog in the first place? Was he showing an allergic reaction to something? Was the food you are giving him causing something (throwing up or diarrhea?)
Honestly the food you are giving dog isnt any of the foods it says he is supposedly allergic too so there should be no problems. Unless you are feeding him carrots in the veggie mix. So stay away from the stuff it supposedly says he is allergic to. I dont buy the whole allergy thing either but even if it is accurate you are feeding chicken not beef or venison, you are feeding oats not wheat, stay away from carrots and rice and dont give yeast in any form even brewers yeast.

And if you change diet at all consult your vet first.
