"lysed?....??
Ultrasound is set up for June 6, as the Vet in Macon has the only machine around, and is at a Vet conference until then.
A new culture was taken yesterday and sent off.
Let me add..the way I understand it, is that the ultrasound may pick up on something that is harboing bacteria. Her Xrays also showed a pouch in her stomach....could or could not be anything. But that will be looked at as well.
Not good news on Winnie
Lysed = disintegrated, destroyed. In this sense, it usually is caused by the pH or concentration of the urine. (Sorry, I've been in the lab for so long, sometimes I forget others don't use the same terminology and jargon).
Angel had the small stalked tumors that showed up on her ultrasound. Her vet thought they were harboring the bacteria. It was one of those 'chicken or egg' things. After her bladder surgery, the pathology report on the tissue said it was inflammatory in origin. So-o-o-o-o, which came first, the inflammation or the infection?
Hope the further testing shows something that can be treated and she is well soon.

Re: Not good news on Winnie
An ultrasound can be very helpful when other diagnostics have been exhausted. Inflammation, tumors, crystals higher up in the urethra, bladder wall thickness, renal tubular defects, kidney stones, etc can be detected with ultrasound when radiology can't. I'm glad to hear it's scheduled for Winnie...hopefully it won't show anything significant or serious, but you'll have that option of ruling things out.
