that i had got swallowed up in the computer world so this is the substitute...ie a wrap with foam rubber covered over with ace bandage or duct tape just enough to keept the dog from getting at the lesion..this is my own form of art work so just want to see how it turne out
my new substitute for an E-Collar...the original picture
Believe it or not, I have the original along with your discription of how to make one. Don't know what the Greek letter stands for but I would assume it might mean 3/4....
Take some ? inch foam rubber and make it about as wide as the length
of the dogs neck and then wrap it around the neck as many times as
necessary to make it a somewhat rigid neck brace then cover it with
adhesive tape or duct tape..you can also at this point place some
tongue depressers or strips of plastic or wood to stiffen it so the dog
can eat and drink but not move back to any incision or lesion that you
want to keep him from working on.

new e collar
We've used our own version of this for years. All we do is wrap a towel around the dog's neck and secure it with duct tape. We fold the towel so it's fits from just under the dog's chin to where the neck meets the shoulders. It doesn't have to be tight and the duct tape helps make it stiff. It's much more comfortable than an e-collar and amazingly cheap, too! When the dog doesn't need it anymore, we just cut it off and throw it away. I will say that it doesn't work if you're trying to keep a dog from rubbing at an eye, because they can still rub it on furniture, etc. But to keep them from chewing it is very good.
found a towell worked fine also,,,your right it is not good
for eyes or ears but for body problems. pretty good....used to use duct tape on splints also but it was not as good as plaster paris or plastic cause the school kids could not decorate duct as well as the white stuff....and that was important when the kids wanted to show their dog off..
