Drago is 1 yr. 3 months old German Shep. He started limping on Sunday. I took him to the vet on Tues. They did xrays and found FMCP (fragmented medial coronoid process). I have done MUCH research on the wed and am more confused than ever. I would LOVE to have "real life" ideas about weather or not to do surg. or manage it with meds. and love.
Does the surg. help MOST dogs? Our vet says that it helps "some" dogs and there is NO guarantee. We WILL get it done if it is in the best intrest of the dog.
Thanks for ANY input!

Elbow Eysplasia - FMCP
Re: Elbow Eysplasia - FMCP
depends on where the fragment is located. i would susspect that surgery is your best bet because it is not going to go away by itself...if you question it ask to be refered to an orthopod...but i know of no other solution except steroid drugs to eas the pain but the chip (mouse) is still there and is not going to go away by itself, good luck
Re: Elbow Eysplasia - FMCP
I would get a referral to an orthopedic specialist for surgery. In my experience, dogs that had the surgery did much better afterwards.

DONE! I have set up an app. with Florida Vet school in Gainsville. It is 3 hours from here but Drago is a great car rider so that will not be a problem. THANKS for the input!
