Tears of Blood!!

Post by Nancy (Spuddie' s Mum) »

My Cocker Spaniel has recently had puss in his eyes and was on Terramyasin (sp) which he completed a couple of days ago. His eyes seemed to have cleaned up but I noticed that one was still quite red on the bottom under the skin. He is due back to the vet for a re-check tomorrow, but, last night while I was getting ready for bed, he came into the bathroom to see what I was doing and when I looked at him there was a big long tear of watery blood coming from that eye!

Needless to say I will be calling the vet to get his appointment bumped up to today as soon as they open at 8:00 am, but I am curious as to what would cause such a thing??

My cat has this problem a lot. I was told it is blocked tear ducts, but it could be an infection as well.

Whew, as it turn out, all it was was some irritation from the eye infection that she said was still there a bit. She did not seem too concerned but she checked his tear production and also suggest that a tiny growth on his eyelid should be removed so that it does not cause any eye irritation. So home he came with some more oitment and (thank goodness) it was nothing to get too worried about. :)
