Davet, you might be right that we need to break the habit.
Crystal's Mom, those are good ideas to try also. I have never found anything like Solid Gold around here. There is one more feed store I haven't looked in, though. She doesn't eat a lot, so it might be feasible to order it online. I'm convinced it is an allergy, too.

I don't think it has to be Solid Gold.....You can check the ingredients on whatever food you're currently using and start ruling out the obvious offenders. I just happened to noticed that a common factor in all of Crystal's food since birth was corn and I tried to eliminate it first. When I did, after a week or so I noticed that the chin doesn't have open sores that bleed. It's a lot better. But, since I switched to a corn-wheat-soy free kibble, it could be any one of those things and I'll never know which one. There are other kibbles (Natural Balance, Wysong) that you could try. I also noticed that she is pooping once a day now instead of 3 or 4 times. That's at least a step in the right direction. I'm hoping to see more improvement in the next few weeks because she hasn't been on the new food long enough to see the full effect.
As for her feet, they are better but not 100%. She is in a habit of licking them and that could be obsessive. She is one of those dogs who always has to do something to her body. I even tried davet's recommendation this morning and I may as well have put beef gravy on her feet because she actually liked the taste of the deodorant and her feet and chin were soaking wet. She's just not normal and I have to face that. It's going to be a long road with this dog. She's a high maintenance girl.
