Yesterday while at Wal-Mart I picked up some catnip toys for my cats, and then I let them indulge when I got home.
Of course, the dog is very jealous and when she saw the cats throwing themselves ecstatically on the toys, she immediately chased them away with her barking and biting. Then she started getting a few good nosefuls, and later that night she threw up about 4 or 5 times.
My mom screamed at me, saying the dog got sick from the catnip. Is this true?
I wonder because my mom usually has no clue what she's talking about.

Re: Can catnip affect dogs too?
you got a good question...i really have no ideam, i have had clients feed the dtrait stuff to dogs and non of them ever got sick but wether they got euphoria, i don;t remember...the ingredient in cqt nip is suppsed to act like the ingredients in marahuanna (sp) so is suspect it could cause a similar reaction but have never heard of it...how bout you chewing some of the stuff and see what happens.....not a good idea but i have never heard of a dog getting sicke from it but then never did th4e experiment...

I have catnip growing along mu dog pens that they use in the day time. It never bothered them. Maybe there was something else in the cat toys, or ... a coincidence.

My pup seems to like it and often chewed on the cats catnip mice, but it does not have the same effect on her. (she didn't get sick either)
