Roxie killed a squirrel today...msg
I can't believe it. We were actually out of town (enjoying 1 week off before starting clinic rotations Monday) and my pet sitter told me all about it. She had blood all over her face and was SO excited. Can you believe a 110 lb rottie caught a little ol' squirrel? All my dogs love to chase them but noone has ever gotten one. It was an adult squirrel and according to my pet sitter's boyfriend had "huge teeth and testicles" hmmmm. I'm glad Roxie has her vaccines UTD. I really missed the dogs for a week while we were visiting in Las Vegas and Phoenix. I checked out the practices where I am to extern this year (we plan to move to the PHX area after graduation). It's nice to be home!

Mr. Blue sends on his congratulations! He's gotten one too,
...and just can't figure out why his silly and not-so-bright humans don't recognize them as the public danger he is convinced they are How did you like the Phoenix area? I've never been, but I'd love to go to a drier place to get away from all this mold!

~~~~~Ugh~~~~~
My Doberman chases them all the time. If she ever caught one, she wouldn't know what to do with it. I have a feeling the squirrel would have the upper hand and it would be my dog's blood all over the place.
Roxy always pointed and chased squirrels. She caught one once and came to get me, Lassie style, leading me to the squirrel which was in shock but still alive. We stood side by side and watched the squirrel recover and make a getaway then Roxy looked up at me and licked my hand. A catch and release hunter, I guess...
Mary, Phoenix is great!...msg
we really like it there. It is gorgeous weather (well, 9 mos of the year anyway) and 100 doesn't feel so bad when it's dry--really!! This past week was gorgeous and in the 90s. It is getting to be a huge city (almost too big- almost 4 million in the city and suburbs) The nice thing about it is that the housing is still relatively affordable, and we can even get a little land, an acre or two. Maybe even a horse! Hubby is in the mortgage business and shouldn't have a hard time getting a job- the area is booming. And I hope I can find a good job too. Word is, I should start looking in about 6 months. I will be spending externship time out there to "put my feelers out". I know what you mean about the mold, humidity. We walked into our house and it just smelled musty!! You should go out there sometime for a vacation. It's really great!
Must be a fast Rottie to catch a squirrel. I wonder what Scribs would do if she caught something - all she's caught so far are bugs! She'll chase anything, though, even deer.
PS Phoenix sounds like a great place to settle - never been there but as an amatuer astronomer I can tell you the skies there are awesome!
No squirels here, but
ours catch and kill a few birds each week. ..... They team up on the poor dumb birds. The bird will be evading one dog and get right in the jaws of another. ......
