Macadamia nuts

The little beagle mix that I've been taking care of for the last 2 months is spending the night with her mother. She just called to say the dog got into a bag of macadamia nuts. I searched all my poison web sites and told her she should call the vet. It looks like the dogs recover but it's pretty scary 24 hours. Has anyone had experience with this? I have never heard that macadamia nuts were poisonous to dogs before this.

Turns out the vet just said to give her a bland diet. I guess the macadamia nuts are not that bad. The dog is acting like her happy self this morning.

When my friend was calling me telling me about the macadamia nuts, I started doing research and found several articles. But when she called the vet, he didn't seem concerned. So I don't really know what to think. She is still pooping out nuts but other then that she is fine. Maybe some dogs are more sensitive to it. Who knows.
