I want to take my boy on vacation with me this summer, but he's too tall for the carrier. I've measured him according to the Delta guidelines, and he is okay for weight, but too tall (14 inches). I've also checked out the carrier that is sold by Delta and pet stores as meeting the requirements, but no luck.
I'm not crazy about putting him in cargo, plus I don't think Delta will fly him in cargo during the summer because of the summer temps.
It's too far to drive (sorta cross country), and I could leave him home with my DH, but I really would like him to be with me.
I've never flown with a pooch before. Does anyone have any suggestions?

If you can actually do to a store with the carrier, see how he fits. Otherwise your only choice is to fly him in cargo or leave him home.

Will they let you buy a ticket for him so he has his own seat? i think some of the airlines allow this, but I'm not sure.
