profile settings howto

change your password
  • login
  • click on the profile link at the top of the main page
  • enter your current password (in appropiate field)
  • enter a new password (in appropiate field)
  • confirm your new password (in appropiate field)
  • click the submit button at the bottom of the page
edit your website/location/interests/etc
  • login
  • click on the profile link at the top of the main page
  • enter information you wish to add/change (in appropiate field
  • click the submit button at the bottom of the page
make your email address "hidden"
  • login
  • click on the profile link at the top of the main page
  • choose no for the option titled "Always show me e-mail address"
  • click the submit button at the bottom of the page
select an avatar for your userid
  • login
  • click on the profile link at the top of the main page
  • click the show gallery button at the bottom of the page
  • choose an avatar (image to define you) from the list shown or choose another gallery for more
  • click the select avatar button
  • click the submit button at the bottom of the page

update: you may now select an offsite image as your avatar if you do not wish to use any that are listed on this site. simply put in the URL when selecting an avatar.

I tried to put an off site avatar, I pasted the url in the appropriate box in my profile, but the avatar dosn't show in my profile or replies. :?

You can't link to a site with a protected image gallery...the site you are trying to link from *does* have a protected image gallery. That's why it isn't appearing.

By protection, I mean that the site owner has prevented hotlinking of images, therefore if you try to link the image from their site, it will give you a forbidden error message.

Do a search on google for avatars, but if you find one you like, be sure to read the site's terms, they may not allow hotlinking.
