My best friend's sweet old shepherd mix, Brownie, has reached the end of the road. He can't walk anymore, and he can't hold his bladder long enough to get outside, and he's mostly blind, so the family is going to hold him while they say their last goodbyes today at 3:00. He's always been sweet, friendly, loving, playful, and affectionate to his family... basically the friendliest and most loyal dog anyone could ever ask for. Though it was clear he's been in pain, he never stopped being affectionate and loving to everyone.
Brownie loved tennis balls, rolling in the grass, chasing fireflies, and even that darn cat who pounced on his head while he was sleeping. He would roll over and show his belly to anyone who was friendly to him, and would offer lots of doggy kisses to anyone that wanted them. Brownie was everyone's friend. He was always happy to see you, no matter who you were. He was very loved by his family and his extended family, and his furry face will always be missed.
(Crying my eyes out writing this, and it's not even my dog... he was just the best.)
Thanks for the love, Brownie.
