Thank you ladies, your thoughts and prayers mean much to me. I'm perlexed and shocked at the suddeness, and saddened that he declined so fast in such a short amount of time.

Cinder was one of my emergency-shift rescues....a very cruel human attempted to hurt him badly with a baseball bat. He suffered head trauma and loss of vision in one eye and later lost his vision in the other. He never was comfortable with touch or petting on his forehead (except for soft kisses). He had a big soft heart and I was always struck by his beauty, especially the baby blue eyes that couldn't see.

When Cody was brought home as a two-week-old, of the (then) 6 cats who surrounded him with curiosity, it was Cinder he crawled to....it was love at first sight...

Image

Cinder took him under his paw from the beginning, taught him all the ropes, and they remained best friends ever since. Even though he was blind, he always knew when Cody was near, they cuddled incessantly.

Image

I miss him fiercely and it is difficult coping with the loss, but I know that he lived in love, security and happiness....

I am sitting here with tears running down my face as I try to type...

Traci...what a beautiful cat he was...inside and outside, to share the love he had with you and the other cats, especially after the way someone else had treated him...Cinder Bear was very special and will always remain so in your heart...

At least now, he can see from those beautiful baby blues...and is watching over you and the friends he left behind...

I am sure this was a very hard post for you to put up...thank you for sharing his pictures and some of his life with us...

Like Tambrey, I'm typing through tears. Traci, you have expressed your feelings beautifully. I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you for the sharing the lovely album - know it is difficult to look at it now, but such pictures will be a lasting comfort in time... I am reminded of my wonderful deaf cat, Xanth and the way he "took to" and helped nurture the kitten I brought in from outdoors and named Q... neither of these cats were cuddlers, but they had such an obvious rapport and pleasure in one another's company, from the very first.

Don't want to sound pompous, but I really do believe that when we humans foster, protect and love our cats in this way, we are actually helping advance the rightful evolvement of domestic felines... I hope Traci and each of you who love cats will be comforted to think - as I do - that the day is not far off when all cats everywhere are treasured as the wonderful, God given creatures they truly are.

Pass a good time waiting at the Bridge, sweet Cinder Bear! Please when you see him, tell HRH Prince Xanth that Q and `Eowyn and their hobbit send regards.

Traci, I am so very sorry! I have been working at a new job and haven't visited the board much lately, was such a shock to read of your loss. He was absolutely beautiful and loving him the way you did just proves even more what a wonderful person you are. You have helped me so very much, I wish there was something I could do for you. I will pray for you. How is Cody handling missing his precious friend? Just remember all the great times and know that there is a special place across the bridge for Cinder Bear. "HUGS" Wanda

All of your thoughts expressed have matched my own...it is truly a comfort to be amoung cat-lovers (and all pets) who understand this emotional turmoil.

Yes, it took me all night to work with his pictures, in between tears and memories. I still cannot adjust to his not being here.

Cody seems to be doing fine, I'm not sure he realizes yet, since he has so many other siblings around him. The night before I took Cinder into the clinic, he stayed by Cinder's side and cuddled. Maybe he knew and was saying goodbye in his own little way.

I am comforted in knowing Cinder is amoung friends who have gone on before him...your pets and mine. Thank you everyone, for your thoughts and prayers, it helps the heart to heal!!
