Neighbor's puppy is lost...please say a prayer
They just brought Dalyla (sounds like Delilah) home yesterday, she was actually in route to her father in law's home. This morning she got out with her other dogs and then ran off. They have been searching frantically for her since. She's only 7 months old, a beautiful blue heeler. Several of us around here have thorough scoured the neighborhood and have seen no sign of her. It's pretty rural and she could be hiding anywhere. We looked in brush piles, culverts, ditches, under porches...everywhere we could think. She is heartsick over this I feel so bad that we have not be able to locate her. She is leaving the outside lights on tonight, putting out food, probably not sleeping, and hoping she will show up. I'm wondering if she hasn't just found a very good hiding place on their property or close by. She said the dog was very shy and skittish. I hate thinking about poor Dalyla out there tonight alone and hope she comes home. Please pray that her angels show her the way!!
If she doesn't show up tomorrow she is putting out flyers and making calls to all the shelters and vets. We will probably help look for her search some more tomorrow.

I just hate it when little ones go missing, it just breaks your heart!
She's still a puppy, and probably very hungry, she'll be looking for a food and water source, and a shady spot to hide. Tell the owners to go out and stay out for long periods of time, calling to her, puppies are a bit different than cats, they will almost always come out of hiding for food and human touch. I'm not sure, they know their dogs best, but would it help or not to take the dogs with them in their search - the dogs might find her scent and lead them to her.
There's also a chance someone picked her up, have them watch or call the shelters etc to see if someone brought her in (vet offices too).
Sending many many good thoughts and prayers she is found safe and sound!

She's home! Her husband went out and found her on the porch earlier this morning. I'm glad she had found her way back even though she had only been at their home for a day! She appears to be fine, just smells as if she's been rolling on cow pies, which she probably was. I told my neighbor I guess the herding instincts were kicking in..tee hee.

Terrific news. You might want to suggest they get one of the GPS trackers that go on the dog's collar. Especially if she seems to be a "runner". Some dogs just love to go find what they think they're missing out on. I know my Angel would go wandering every chance she got - we "lost" her 3 times. Twice she got home because of the address/phone tag we had on her collar; the third time my DD found her wandering through our subdivision.

Woo-Hoo!! I'm so glad she has been found! I'd almost call this a miracle since she only knew her new home for a day

I totally agree. I was afraid she might be trying to find her 'old' home.Traci wrote:Woo-Hoo!! I'm so glad she has been found! I'd almost call this a miracle since she only knew her new home for a day

Karen, that is what I was afraid of too! And we had just had a bear get into our garbage bins here the night before, not to mention all the coyotes and such.
She's happy to be back to her temp home.
