A Friend's Dogs

Post by Tambrey »

I was just cruising Facebook before bed and the girl I work with is updating her Status from her blackberry.....about an hour ago she posted the following:

RIP Bogo. You'll always be my special little loverman knucklehead. You were a great dog and we will all miss you very much.

and then a few minutes later, the following:

if anyone in the morningside area sees a little white jack russell terrier on the loose she is ours. She answers to Jackie and took off tonight after the car accident. Please help us find her.

I do not know what happened....if my friend is okay....her children...her husband....why they were out with the dogs...I am not sure if she will be at work tomorrow...I know I would not be

And to make it doubly sad...just a few weeks ago, Bogo was "arrested" for escaping the house when a kid went out the front door (he liked to play in the front yard)...and the neighbor lady reported him as a vicious dog...sure...he would LICK you to death maybe...
but...animal control came and had to take him in...my friend "agreed" to have him "labeled" as an aggressive dog just so she could have him back...but before she could, they had to go get and build a special 6 foot high kennel in their back yard and a muzzle for him and all sorts of CRAP...
While he was gone...little Ellie...the runt" kitten she adopted...was lost without him being there...and was sooooo happy to have him back home she barely left his side...

And now Bogo has Crossed the Rainbow Bridge
And we are not sure about Jackie at this point in time...and Jackie is not their dog...they are dogsitting for a friend who is away taking care of arrangements after her mother's death...

My co-worker is not at work today....she is out in driving rain searching the nearby ravine that Jackie the terrier, ran off into after the car was hit by a semi...

her husband and son are okay...but Bogo, as I said, has crossed the Rainbow Bridge and Jackie has ran off, could also be injured and of course scared....

Please keep them all in your good thoughts and prayers....thanks

Only going by what you posted.....

This recently happened here, two seperate incidents., One was a car accident, dogs escaped, one dog found nearby right away, the other lost for several weeks. It was placed in newspapers (as headline story, due to highway accident and driver's death), therefore hundreds of people saw it and were on the lookout. As luck would have it, a rural farmer found the dog on his property, had read the story, called the authorities and the community got together and raised funds to ship the dog across the nation to his owners. The other incident was very similar, accident on highway, dog found by folks who had read about it.

So, miracles happen, people DO pay attention. Hope this is at least encouraging, and a JRT is pretty smart, she may be nearby or making her way to shelter and looking for a human to "alert".

I'm so sorry about the loss of Bogo...

Thanks ladies...

more updates on the accident...

her husband's car is totalled...I guess Bogo HAD escaped and ran off...he did get HBC and her husband found him (already gone)
He had the car parked and flashers going so no other cars would hit him/them while he was picking Bogo up to take him home...
while in process, a semi ran into the car, which had their son and Jackie inside....
Son is okay, dog ran off....husband had to go to hospital...he has a broken rib and terrible road rash on his legs...but it COULD have been alot worse seeing the totalled car and knowing that he was standing out there picking up Bogo when the semi smashed into it...

Still no Jackie...but I have posted an alert on MY Facebook for my local friends...and in turn, one of them posted on HERS...and she volunteers for our local PawPrints Rescue and does animal rescue herself, and knowing her, if she was not called to substitute teach today, she is also out there in the driving rain rounding up a search party!!

She asked where the dog took off from, so would be starting the search from there and fanning out...

How sad for your friends. Hope they have some good luck come their way and they find Jackie.

Jackie has been found!!!!

She was near my friend's brother's house and someone spooted her and called Animal Control...since my friend had alerted them to the accident, they called her right away and she is on her way to pick her up....and hopefully take her directly to her veterinarian!!!

Jackie fine....just full of cockleburs that they combed/pulled out and she was very cold and hungry and tired....

My friend said that when her husband was out driving around, their son and Jackie were in the back seat....he got tired and laid down...something she usually never agrees to, but in this case it saved his life!!
When the semi smashed into the car, it folded/buckled the backseat down...since he still had the lapbelt on, he stayed in the seat, but was not hurt and did not even end up with whiplash since he was laying down....Jackie had been laying on the seat beside him....

Her husband was half out of the car when it happened and he held onto the car door and got drug across the blacktop, hence his road rash on his legs....

My friend...she was standing across the road where she had parked her car...watching all of this unfold and thinking for sure she just saw her family get killed....

After things settled down, they were not able to pick Bogo up  his body was too mangled from their car and the semi....he had been okay (just across the Bridge) before the accident...so Animal Control ended up having to come and pick him up :(
Her son did have to step out of the car and over Bogo in order to get away from the scene and she felt just awful about that....
He is 9 years old...

And it all happened because when her husband pulled over, stopped and put his flashers on...the lady in the lane NEXT to him slammed on her brakes...and the semi behind HER could not stop....he turned wheels to try to stop/avoid and hit both cars...things would have been FINE if she had not stopped right in the middle of the ROAD..the INNER lane at that...if she wanted to help, she could have driven and stopped in front of his car or around the block to a side road...not just slam them on in the middle of the road!!!
