No signs of infection on the aspirated fluid from her lungs. They removed some, but not all (vet didn't explain why and I didn't think to ask at the time). The diuretic was supposed to take care of the rest. Unfortunately, that resulted in a rather dehydrated kitty (noticed this this morning). She wouldn't eat or drink... we tried everything, treats, boiled chicken, soft canned food, tuna... finally my mom remembered that Emmy LOVES Noah's baby food. So I found a turkey one that had nothing but meat in it (no salts, powders, gravy, nothing) and she DEVOURED it. I mixed it with some of her kibble and she went for that, too. She's looking a lot better today, but I still have an appointment again for tomorrow to get her blood checked, make sure her kidneys are good after getting dehydrated, and probably do another x-ray to see if the meds are working. After I gave her the baby food, she started grooming herself for the first time since I noticed she was sick. That really encouraged me, and I'm hoping that now that she's breathing better AND getting rehydrated, she'll be feeling better. She's laying more casually now, looking more comfortable, as opposed to squatted and guarding. And I've seen her use the litterbox, both urine and stool, so that's a good sign, too.

It's been a tiring few days worrying about her... she's not even 3 years old; she's way too young to go through this... my mom was in tears worried about her this morning. But, hopefully we're on the right track. We'll find out with the bloodwork and x-ray tomorrow. Fingers crossed... if it's not good news, it's off to the heart specialist.
