No, he is not diabetic. His glucose dropped post-surgery.
Pneumonia was a complication they feared. (aspiration-pneumonia - increased risk with the type of surgery)
I mentioned that they should be visiting him....maybe their touch and voices is what he needs right now....

Well, I'd have to agree and encourage owners to visit their pets when they're hospitalized. I also agree with the vet who may feel the pet needs rest (particularly in breathing-distressed patients), but in critical situations, an owner's presence can increase the pet's desire to heal.

He was so cute. He was only 8 years old. He would come to me, look up at me and put his feet on my knees to pick him up. When I would , he'd kiss me on the nose and I complained of his stinky breath.

He would bark at all the repairmen who would come close to me, especially if they were handing me a bill.
I only had him for 4 years...

I'm so very sorry, I hoped he would have an uneventful recovery. My heart and prayers are with her during this difficult time....

Thanks...I was hoping as well...she said the ER hospital was a 2 hour drive from their home, so she could not even get to him to be with him :(
