SnoopDogg

Post by Tambrey »

a childhood friend of mine who lives alone on Emerald Island, NC has posted the last few days about his old boy, Snoop Dogg....Snoop Dogg has been blind in one eye for a couple of years now, and seems to have developed an infection in the other eye that even with treatment is now totally blind and he scared to death....I am afraid he is giving up and Roy is not ready yet, even though Snoop Dogg seems to be :(
Snoop is at least 13, according to his records from the humane society, where they said he was 3 when Roy adpoted him...

This was the first recent post Roy put up, so I am not sure about all the events leading up to this point, as far as what the vet has done and so forth...

Please say a Prayer for my Babyboy Snoop Dogg.
I don't know if he will make it through the night.
He is fighting hard but won't eat, drinks a little now and then but his heart rate is fast and breathing very labored.
Snoop went completely blind about 3 days ago and I think the fact he is completely blind now, it is scaring him I think and he is mad with his hair standing up like a Ridgehound.
I have been trying everything to get him to eat anything and trying to keep him drinking, he has been doing less and less every day.
I am giving him all my Love and non-stop talking to him to let him know I am here with him.
He has been navigating the house to go out with me talking to him and snapping my fingers.
But tonight he was too weak and I carried him out.
It is breaking my heart thinking about losing my Buddyboy.
I Love My Snoop Dogg.
♥
and this last evening
Hello Family and Friends.
I just wanted to Thank You all for your Prayers and Kind words and Best Wishes.
Snoop is still with us and I am working 24/7 for him.
He is drinking alot now but hardly at all eating.
I have tried everything I have to get him to eat.
Yesterday I tried special medical canned dog food from the Vet Hospital in Raleigh.
This morning I made him a Beef boullion cube in a cup of hot water and let it cool.
He ignored it at first and drank his water and then drank some of the broth, enough to make me feel good.
He had a good night, as good as he could.
I will keep giving him 100% of me and do what I can for my Babyboy.
I Thank You All for being so kind and sweet.
We Love and Thank You!
Snoop Dogg & Roy
P.S.
I won't be online much at all.
I have my hands full.
I have to remember Me, and stay healthy and try to keep enough energy to keep up Nursing Snoop.
Thank You All!!
Thankfully, Roy is in the off season right now, so can devote 24/7 to Snoop Dogg...his regular job is a whale watching guide and caretaker of the condos where he lives year round...

So please just keep Snoop Dogg and Roy in your thoughts...

Hardly any information to say much save for prayers, but if he isn't seeing a vet, he should be, at least to determine if there is a pain problem that can be addressed. He may be making false assumptions of what Snoop Dogg is really going through (in fact may be experiencing pain, nausea, etc) and perhaps anthropomorphizing when in fact a vet should be directing him in diagnosis and treatment. For example, if there was an infection in the eye, the infection could be causing swelling, pressure and inflammation thereby causing a GREAT deal of pain, which can cause inappetance and nausea, dehydration. Also, the "treatment" may not be sufficient, in which the vet needs to be informed in case something else can be tried. The vet should be instructing him on how to treat this and be compliant with treatment. If he's a friend of yours and you have access to post to him, please try to advise him, especially if he is missing the important aspects of pain that could be preventing him from eating, etc..

Prayers for Snoop Dogg, hope he improves!

I know...I wish he had more medical info...and I knew you would also give me some ideas to present to him!!

I am going to (assume) hope that since he mentioned he has canned food from the vet hospital in Raleigh that he has had Snoop Dogg there...that they would not just sell him the food without seeing Snoop

yes...we grew up together in the same neighborhood...so hopefully since we have literally known each other since I was in first grade...and his younger brother was the first boy I ever kissed...when we were six  that he will listen to some ideas/advice!

Well, if you can get the info to him, that would greatly help Snoop, especially if pain medication is what is needed, and possible change in antibiotics. (all vet-prescribed of course)

Many vets will sell the prescription food without seeing the pet, providing the pet is established at said clinic. Prescription foods actually are not legally required to be prescribed, but the problem with NOT prescribing is because each one is formulated with specific nutrients for a specific condition. Feeding a prescription diet for long term, or for anything but the intended condition can be dangerous due to that nutrient formulation. Many pet owners don't understand that, but it's the way it is, and should be. Just an example, cats with struvites: there are several prescription diets that should never be fed long term, elsewise they can be detrimental and cause oxalates or other damage.

I'm afraid this reminds me too much of Allie - possible heart failure??? If Snoop hasn't seen a vet, he surely needs to.
