Tambrey, how do you know he isn't owned and somehow escaped or got lost? He also should be scanned for a microchip, as well as at least examined by your vet and isolated from your other pets since you have no history on this dog.
Post a FOUND ad in your local paper, and on petfinder, etc. Post a flyer in your vet's office and any other vet clinic in the area. Ask your local radio stations to broadcast Ghost's description if possible. Check the local papers and rescue organizations and shelter for information on anyone reporting a dog missing that may fit Ghost's description.

Re: Douja
traci...He was not lost...the owner is my son's boss at work and he brought him in with everything for the dog...he could not keep him because the landlord gave him a deadline and he was not going to take him to the Humane Society to be put down...so he brought him to work with him, and my son brought him home....
But I will check the newspapers and vet offices just in case...thanks

Re: Douja
Confused, DH's boss is the actual owner? Or not? If so, why isn't HE looking for a proper home for Ghost?

Re: Douja
yes...my son's boss was the owner...he tried to find a home in the 2 days that their landlord gave them or was forcing the family to take Ghost to the Humane Society, because they were only allowed to have 2 dogs...and they have Ghost's Mom and Dad...
So when the 2 days was up, rather than take Ghost to the Humane Society, he brought him to work begging one of the guys...any of the guys...to take him home, even for a while, or to help find a home...the only other one that spoke up, my son does not trust, says he comes to work hung over and smelling like dope sometimes...so my son spoke up instead and said he would bring him home with us...
Sooo...we have Ghost until a home is found...whether we find one...or Boss finds one...or Boss and his family can find a home where they can take Ghost back...but in the meantime, if a family can be found...go with it...
My son wants to find a friend who will give him a home, but my son can go visit him, or maybe take him to play with his Mom and Dad at times...
who knows...I just want to find a good forever home for him...he makes a person fall in love with him really fast with that big smile and wiggly body...

Re: Douja
Tambrey, a few years ago I pulled a 'pocket' pittie out of a high kill shelter (tiny girl at 38 pounds).
This is a good resource you might want to consider:
http://pbrc.net/index.html
You can list the dog there, and they have extremely knowledgable folks, all pitbull owners, who screen any potential applicants and they are very picky.
All the applicants I got for Rose failed miserably in the screening process.
Eventually I was able to place Rose through a lady who runs a wonderful boarding facility, and she went to a loving couple in western Kansas (he is a retired police officer) where she has a mixed breed brother and is very spoiled and happy.
Ghost brought a tear to my eye because he reminds me so much of my beloved Skittle. I am praying very hard for that forever home for him!

Re: Douja
Thanks DeVon...I will check them this weekend...I am just peeking in from work right now!
We met Ghost's family last weekend when we went to pick up DS from work...they were sad to have to let him go, and if there was a way to keep him, they would still bring him back...The wife said tht even though he was the kids dog, he followed her everywhere and is definitely a ladies dog! I know when he is downstairs with us, he is at my feet constantly...
His Mom is Pit and SharPei...his dad is Chocolate Lab and I forget what else...a retriever of some sort if I remember right...
He has been going out during the day to run and play with Squirt and Ceileigh, supervised at first, on a leash...then allowed off leash with us in there with them..and now we just let him stay out there when they are out...they have their pecking order figured out...Ceileigh, Squirt and Ghost...and it gives him a chance to play with dogs his own size...at night he sleeps on the floor right beside my son's bed...
It will be very difficult to let him go...but as I said...it is not fair to him or the others...even though I keep thinking to myself...Skeptic (I wonder where he is?!) has about THIRTEEN dogs!!
