Re: Jet the Horse in Alabama
update from my other forum from a woman in Alabama
Please pray for Jet's release from pain...in one way or the other
and let him feel the love and compassion for those humans caring for him during this horrific time in his life...
He is in a lot of pain, totally skinned on one side, broken bones, he was dragged on his knees so bones were scraped away, gravel imbedded...you can't tell that in the picture or the video so much, and the vet says that is not a good thing. If it continues today he will have to be put to sleep.
The only good thing that may come of this is that the whole community, even local politicians, is getting involved to make the animal protection act extend to horses and other large animals, not just cats and dogs.
Please pray for Jet's release from pain...in one way or the other
and let him feel the love and compassion for those humans caring for him during this horrific time in his life...
Re: Jet the Horse in Alabama
I have to question the owner's part in this, and am wondering why Jet wasn't behind a protected fence, etc. And the owner just signs him away to the vet because he doesn't want to pay the bill? If that's truly the case, the owner should be charged as well, for negligence (not keeping him safe/protected in the first place.)
My thoughts and prayers go out to Jet, in the hopes he will recover and find a new loving home, bless his strength and courage.....

BALDWIN COUNTY - Fox 10 News has learned a pony that underwent surgery after being dragged behind a truck was euthanized Wednesday morning.
Dr. Tim Stewart of the Baldwin Animal Clinic said on Wednesday that the surgery the day before revealed the full extent of Jet's injuries. It turns out the asphalt did more damage than originally thought. Dr. Stewart says the road basically cooked Jet's muscles and wore down his bones. During Tuesday's surgery, Stewart says things like asphalt and dirt were found inside Jet's joints.
Dr. Stewart says there would be no way to humanely rehabilitate Jet without the pony experiencing great suffering. That's why the decision was made to euthanize Jet.
This entire ordeal began Saturday, when police arrested a suspect under the name "Anthony Enlow." We've since learned his real name is Jerry Cruthers. Investigators say Cruthers has a long criminal history including convictions on charges of felony manslaughter, burglary, assault on a police officer, and drug violations.
As for this current investigation, Cruthers only faces misdemeanor charges. That's because Alabama's felony animal cruelty law applies only to dogs and cats. Because of this case involving Jet, many supporters are now pushing for state legislators to change that law.
However, Fox 10 News has learned the charge against Cruthers could be upgraded. The Loxley Police Department is consulting with the District Attorney's Office to determine if Cruthers could be charged with a felony count of Intentional Killing of Livestock.
Safe Journey across the Rainbow Bridge, {{{Jet}}}...may you now run free forever

How tragic and sad. At least Jet is no longer suffering

Re: Jet the Horse in Alabama
That is vile. How in hell can anyone do that to an animal?
Y'know, I've already had a bad day, and that's just more than I can take...

I agree with Tambrey, drag the [Expletive Deleted] behind a truck until his bones are broken and his muscles cooked.
